Christmasy wonders

I know it’s been a while but today is the first day I have my very own high-speed internet connection! So I’ve got a bit of catching up to do. Since it’s almost Christmas, I’ll share some Christmasy things to do that don’t cost much.

A couple weeks ago, Jake and I drove out to Bayshore in Anchorage to see the light/music display at 3740 Amber Bay Loop. The guy has what I’m guessing is a little iPod-like radio broadcaster, and you can listen to the music he’s synced his lights to at 99.9 fm. Here’s a video, the first part is one of my favorite Christmas songs, the second is way cooler in terms of the action of the lights (no, we are not driving the whole time):

Also, when I went to Fairbanks a couple weekends ago, Jake and I decided it was the appropriate time of year to head out to North Pole. We went at night so the Santa Claus House was closed, but we did see the ice carvers prepping for Christmas in Ice. It didn’t open until the next day (when I was leaving) but it was nifty. Christmas in Ice goes until Jan. 3 and is $4 for kids under 12 and $6 for adults. It’s at the RV Park next to the Santa Claus House.

I have a few more things I’d like to get in here, but with work and the holidays, it might take a little bit. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
